The baroque hill towns of Noto, Modiaca and Ragusta offer a range of culinary delights. The undeniably beautiful town of Noto has what’s claimed to be the world’s best ice cream parlours- with flavours ranging from an unusually dense chocolate to carrot with orange to a creamy wonderful olive oil (the best flavour in our opinion). Stecca Natura sell the most wonderful range of natural juice ice lollies - seriously refreshing as you wander around the ornate piazzas.
In Modica, famous for chocolate in Sicily, the local technique of melting the ingredients at a lower temperature than usual makes for an interesting more grainy texture. Flavours were again wide ranging - we loved the orange and cinnamon in particular.
